Palestine marches in London won’t stop until ceasefire is called, protestors say

Pro-Palestine marches in London will continue until the war is declared over, according to one of their organisers.

Protesters gathering in their numbers to urge for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict have created disturbance throughout the capital city.

“We’ll keep marching until a ceasefire is called,” said Jamal, director of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign.

“What we plan to do with the extraordinary support and solidarity we’ve seen over the past few weeks is channel it into our campaign to end to all UK complicity with Israel’s oppressive state, by the government, public bodies, companies and corporations.”

At the UN Security Council meeting last Friday, the United Kingdom chose to abstain from a vote calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The call was supported by 13 of the 15 countries that voted, with the UK abstaining. A veto from the United States effectively halted the cessation vote.

“The fact that our government is one of only two, alongside the US, that did not vote in favour of that motion is shameful,” Jamal went on to say.

Since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign has been coordinating national and local rallies across the UK.

With 80 branches and 15 national trade unions, they are the largest organisation in the UK dedicated to helping Palestine.
