Gen Z say they would actively AVOID fighting in war to protect UK

According to a shocking opinion poll done for GB News, just 14% of Britons between the ages of 18 and 24 would voluntarily fight for the UK if they were drafted for World War Three.

The generation most likely to claim they would stop at nothing to keep out of the prospective conflict’s combat was Generation Z.

Of those surveyed between the ages of 18 and 24, over two out of five (43%) said they would stop at nothing to escape serving on the front lines.

Only 14% stated said they would only fight for the United Kingdom if absolutely necessary.

Forty percent of respondents between the ages of 25 and 49 said they avoided fighting, making Generation Z the most likely group to do so.

The percentage dropped sharply to 12% for those over 65 and 28% for those between the ages of 50 and 64.

Only 17% of all respondents said they would gladly fight for the UK, with men, Conservative voters, and Brexit supporters at the top of the list with 27%, 32%, and 31%, respectively.

The aggregate percentage is substantially lower than the 30% who would completely avoid the possible global conflict, but it is only marginally higher than the 14% who would comply if forced.

Speculation about the British military conscripting recruits comes after the outgoing Chief of the General Staff Sir Patrick Sanders said the UK should “train and equip” a “citizen army”.

Conscription was enforced across the UK during both World War One and World War Two.

Compulsory national service was introduced in 1949 to ensure all men aged 17 to 21 had to serve in one of the armed forces for an 18-month period.

After that, the recruits would spend an additional four years on the reserve list.

There is a shortage of recruits in the UK military, with projections showing that by 2025 there will only be 72,500 fully qualified soldiers in the British Army.
