Did your MP support ignoring ECHR to control borders? Find out here in our FULL list.

The long-running civil battle within the Conservative Party over the European Convention on Human Rights has resurfaced.

This week, Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick was asked if the government would withdraw from the pact if its Rwanda court appeal was unsuccessful.

“Ultimately, we’ll do whatever is necessary to defend our borders and bring order to the asylum system,” Mr Jenrick added.

The Telegraph claimed that at least eight of his colleagues Cabinet Ministers support exiting the ECHR, sending a clear signal that the treaty is on the way out.

Other ministers, however, have stated their opposition to such a move, including Chief Secretary to the Treasury John Glen, who stated this morning that he would not support such a move.

Law ministers Alex Chalk and Victoria Prentis are also believed to be opposed to such a move.

While there isn’t a full list of which MPs back quitting the treaty, nearly 70 Tory MPs – many from Red Wall seats – backed leaving the ECHR in a vote on a Private Members Bill last year.
