A spiritual medium claimed he used his “gift” to locate Nicola Bulley’s body in the River Wyre.
Jason Rothwell, a self-described “spiritual medium, psychic, and tarot reader,” took to social media to reveal that he and a friend had located the missing mother-of-two.
The 45-year-old woman was discovered 23 days after she went missing less than a mile from where she was last seen.
On January 27, she was walking her dog in St Michael’s on Wyre after dropping her daughters, ages six and nine, off at school.
Rothwell stated that he assisted in the recovery of Michael Brooks, 19, who was discovered in the River Ribble in Penwortham, Lancashire, after a two-week search.
“Having previously assisted in the recovery of Michael Brooks, I decided to use whatever “gift” we mediums have to try and locate Nicola Bulley,” he explained.
“As has obviously become clear, yes, it is myself in the images currently circulating in the media relating to the case of Nicola Bulley.
“And yes, it was myself and a friend who reported and assisted the police in the recovery of a body from the river yesterday morning.”
He thanked Lancashire Police for their “help, support and the open mindedness with which they dealt with us, following our call, spiritualists or mediums are obviously not something the police come across every day and I appreciate the respect given to us both”.
At around 11.35 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to the River Wyre near Rawcliffe Road.
Nicola’s body was discovered on a stretch of the river near a tree that had fallen on its side, about a mile outside the village.
While police divers recovered her body, the area was cordoned off.
Rothwell said Nicola’s family had not asked him to help with the search but felt compelled to take action by the “wild speculation and hurtful commentary” going on following her disappearance.
He said he put out his statement after online sleuths revealed his identity on YouTube and TikTok.
The psychic added his “thoughts and prayers” were with Nicola’s family, friends and loved ones.
He continued: “And I do hope, that if it is indeed Nicola, they can find some peace with this.”
