Octopus Energy customers can save money on energy bills by making small change today

Customers of Octopus Energy will be able to save money on their energy bills today.

Customers can earn rewards if they shift their electricity usage away from specific peak times, according to the energy company.

One million users have already signed up to participate in the plan.

The first Saving Session of the season will be held today between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

People who have signed up for the scheme will get a notification via app, email or WhatsApp (if they follow Octopus on the app and have notifications turned on).

The scheme was launched last year as part of the National Grid ESO’s Demand Flexibility Service (DFS).

Throughout last winter, £5.3million in savings was passed onto 700,000 Octopus Energy customers.

The top five per cent of participants enjoyed average savings of more than £40.

Some 2.6 million Octopus smart meter customers are eligible to join the initiative, and anyone not yet enrolled can do so at any time over the winter.

Customers will be rewarded with Octopoints as part of its recently announced rewards scheme, Octoplus.

The number of Octopoints earned will vary based on the particular event, and people taking part in multiple sessions in a row could secure streak bonuses and/or enter prize draws.
