Due to the havoc Storm Pia, trains, and airports tonight, tens of thousands of travellers will have their Christmas travel plans severely disrupted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Heavy winds caused trees to fall into vital overhead lines, trapping hundreds of merry travellers outside Euston and Kings Cross trains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the main East Coast and West Coast routes, travel from London to Scotland and the North was delayed by several hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After numerous trains were cancelled or experienced major delays, LNER and Avanti announced that delays will likely last well into tonight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another instance, at least 25 services were cancelled until 7 p.m. due to a last-minute strike by French employees on the Eurostar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vehicle-only Le Shuttle service was also enduring heavy delays between Folkestone and Calais due to the strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At 7:00 p.m., Eurostar announced that the strike had ended and that services will gradually resume. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Met Office reports that Storm Pia is progressively making her way towards continental Europe, and that conditions should clear up tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
