According to new Treasury proposals, local governments may be permitted to raise taxes by up to 5% next year, reported by The Telegraph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From April, average family homeowners in Band D could face a council tax bill of more than \u00a32,000 per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rutland Council charges Band D households the highest rate in the country, \u00a32,365.56.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If they increased their bills by 5%, the total would be \u00a32,486.21, a more than \u00a3120 increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other locations will see a \u00a3100 or \u00a3110 hike in their prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inflation\u00a0is expected to fall but currently stands at 4.6%, meaning the rises are likely to exceed inflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
