{"id":5344,"date":"2023-11-14T05:29:14","date_gmt":"2023-11-14T05:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savebritain.org\/?p=5344"},"modified":"2023-11-14T05:29:17","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T05:29:17","slug":"winter-fuel-payment-will-be-replaced-in-this-part-of-uk-and-you-can-have-your-say-on-new-benefit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/savebritain.org\/winter-fuel-payment-will-be-replaced-in-this-part-of-uk-and-you-can-have-your-say-on-new-benefit\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter Fuel Payment will be replaced in this part of UK \u2013 and you can have your say on new benefit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Winter Fuel Payment is being replaced in Scotland, and the public is being urged to weigh in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next winter, the Scottish Government will replace the payment with a new benefit called the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment (PAWHP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Scottish Government has launched a consultation on the subject in order to gather information on &#8220;people&#8217;s views on the current benefit&#8221; and to assess how they might &#8220;improve the system already in place.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Scottish Government stated that they want to collect feedback to ensure that they have &#8220;identified the impacts this policy will have.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They expect it will also provide them the opportunity to &#8220;improve the benefit going forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultation paper was published on October 23, this year, and people are urged to react by January 15, 2024, via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consult.gov.scot\/social-security\/pension-age-winter-heating-payment\/consultation\/subpage.2016-07-07.1474135251\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the consultation website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Answers to the questions can also be emailed to WinterBenefitsPolicy@gov.scot or mailed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Division of Social Security Policy<br>Winter Benefits Policy Unit and Welfare Fund<br>Broomielaw 150<br>The address is 5 Atlantic Quay.<br>Glasgow<br>G2 8LU<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Winter Fuel Payment is a benefit designed to assist seniors in paying their heating bills during the colder months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, anyone born before September 25, 1957, might get between \u00a3250 and \u00a3600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the amount includes a Pensioner Cost of Living Payment of between \u00a3150 and \u00a3300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If they are eligible, most people will receive the Winter Fuel Payment immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In October or November, the DWP should issue a letter to those who are eligible outlining how much they would get.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a person believes they are eligible but has not received a letter, they may need to file a claim.
