{"id":527,"date":"2022-03-01T10:11:52","date_gmt":"2022-03-01T10:11:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savebritain.org\/?p=527"},"modified":"2022-03-01T10:11:53","modified_gmt":"2022-03-01T10:11:53","slug":"fifa-reverses-course-bans-russian-national-team-from-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/savebritain.org\/fifa-reverses-course-bans-russian-national-team-from-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"FIFA Reverses Course, Bans Russian National Team from World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>FIFA and the European association, UEFA, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skysports.com\/football\/news\/11095\/12554299\/fifa-and-uefa-suspend-russia-until-further-notice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issued<\/a> a joint statement on Monday confirming that Russia has been suspended until further notice, ESPN reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFollowing the initial decisions adopted by the FIFA Council and the UEFA Executive Committee, which envisaged the adoption of additional measures,\u201d the statement read, \u201cFIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese decisions were adopted today by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, respectively the highest decision-making bodies of both institutions on such urgent matters,\u201d FIFA added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFootball is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine.
