Storm Babet will hit areas of England on Friday, following the death of a lady in Scotland who was dragged into a river by gale-force winds and flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wind and rain warnings have been issued for sections of northern England, the Midlands, and northern Wales from noon Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A yellow warning is also in effect for Northern Ireland from 3 a.m. on Friday until 9 a.m. on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A woman died after being dragged into a river in Angus on Thursday afternoon, prompting the evacuation of 400 homes in the Scottish region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 57-year-old woman’s body was retrieved from Water of Lee in Glen Esk, where a rare red weather signal is in effect until midday Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Environment Agency’s Floodline service has issued four flood warnings in Sandsend, North Yorkshire; Bridlington, East Yorkshire; the Tyne estuary; and districts surrounding the River Maun in Nottinghamshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are other 79 flood alerts in effect across the remainder of England, according to the agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Severe flood warnings for the River Esk in Scotland have been expanded to include Aberdeenshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Met Office cautioned that heavy flooding might cut off some areas for several days, and the British Geological Survey warned that the storm could cause landslides in Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Met Office has issued yellow and amber wind warnings for eastern Scotland and the east coast of England until the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
