{"id":5043,"date":"2023-10-04T12:47:24","date_gmt":"2023-10-04T12:47:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savebritain.org\/?p=5043"},"modified":"2023-10-04T12:47:27","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T12:47:27","slug":"watch-rishi-sunaks-wife-akshata-murty-makes-surprise-speech-ahead-of-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/savebritain.org\/watch-rishi-sunaks-wife-akshata-murty-makes-surprise-speech-ahead-of-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"WATCH: Rishi Sunak&#8217;s Wife, Akshata Murty, makes surprise speech ahead of Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Rishi Sunak&#8217;s wife made a surprise address at the Tory conference ahead of his keynote speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Akshata Murthy looked glamorous in a pink suit as she took to the stage in the main hall at the gathering in Manchester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She told the audience: &#8220;Yes, you are absolutely right, I am not on the agenda for today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;A bit of a surprise addition shall we say and a surprise for my husband too, who has no idea what I am going to say.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rishi Sunak&#039;s wife Akshata Murty makes surprise speech to Tory Party Conference\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OsHgRgNnk6U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In her touching speech, she described her husband as her &#8220;best friend&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After telling the audience that her appearance was also a surprise to their daughters Anoushka and Krishna, she added: &#8220;The reason why I am here is really quite simple, and it is because Rishi and I are each other&#8217;s best friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are one team and I could not imagine being anywhere else but here today with all of you to show my support to him and to the party.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Murty closed her speech by telling the conference she often reminds her husband of the importance of fighting for his values and Conservative values &#8220;when the going gets tough&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She concluded: &#8220;Rishi, you know this, you know that doing the right thing for the long term, even when it is hard, is the right thing to do.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As he opened his speech on the main stage, the Prime Minister told his wife: &#8220;Thank you Akshata for that introduction, and thank you for always being there for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My wife.
