When asked what they missed about the European Union, it seems that Remainers struggled to explain their answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thousands of pro-EU demonstrators took to the streets of London last weekend, demanding that the United Kingdom rejoin the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One woman, who was wearing a yellow curly wig and a shirt emblazoned with the EU flag, suggested that the economies of other EU member states have “recovered a lot better than we have”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interviewer pointed out: “Germany is in recession though, and we are not, so how is that true?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The embarrassed activist struggled to refute this point, simply saying: “Um, I’m not an economist.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the latest Office for National Statistics figures, the UK economy shrank by 0.5 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, on the other hand, said the latest economic numbers provided “many reasons to be optimistic about the future.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He claimed that the UK economy was now on track to outperform Germany, France, and Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Germany, the EU’s largest economy, entered a recession in the first quarter of the year, with GDP growth reduced from zero to -0.3 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bundesbank indicated on Monday that the German economy is likely to contract again this quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another encounter, a protester was asked what he missed about the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man hesitated for a number of seconds before simply responding: “I like the EU.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Rejoin March, which is organised by an alliance of pro-Brussels groups, follows a similar event last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speakers included Belgian MEP Guy Verhofstadt, anti-Brexit\u00a0activist Steve Bray and pro-EU campaigner Gina Miller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter Corr, co-founder of the National Rejoin March, told LBC earlier this week that the march will be an annual event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
