The\u00a0weather\u00a0we\u2019ve been experiencing isn\u2019t set to go anywhere as warm weather is set to continue this week, the Met Office says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forecaster says temperatures will be slightly cooler than recent sweltering conditions, but highs could reach 28\u00b0<\/em>C in\u00a0London, 28\u00b0<\/em>C in Cardiff, and 27\u00b0<\/em>C in Manchester on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However temperatures should be slightly cooler across Scotland and Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wales and much of\u00a0England\u00a0exceeded the threshold for a heatwave earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the Met Office, a heatwave is defined as three days in a row with temperatures meeting or exceeding the heatwave threshold \u2013 though the threshold varies in each county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The temperature hit 32.2\u00b0<\/em>C in Chertsey, Surrey, on Saturday \u2013 the highest recorded this year so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday\u2019s highest temperature, of 30.8\u00b0<\/em>C, was recorded in Porthmadog, north west Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said: \u2018The heat is set to drop slightly in coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018London might not meet heatwave criteria, for example, but there\u2019s a good deal of dry, fine, sunny weather to be had this week with temperatures remaining well above average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018Into the weekend there should be a fair amount of dry weather, with temperatures remaining warm for many, although also humid and warm overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018On Thursday there is a chance of thunder moving into western areas of Northern Ireland and possibly moving further east into parts of Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018The risk of showers will persist into Friday, but on Thursday and Friday there will still be a good deal of dry weather around, especially in the south east.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n London Mayor Sadiq Khan\u00a0extended a high air pollution warning until today, as increased temperatures and winds from the continent blow pollutants towards the capital.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The\u00a0weather\u00a0we\u2019ve been experiencing isn\u2019t set to go anywhere as warm weather is set to continue this week, the Met Office says.
