A lot of expressions are now forbidden at City Hall. Employees have been instructed to refer to illegal immigrants as “undocumented” or as having “insecure immigration status.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The term \u2018asylum seekers\u2019 has also been changed to “people seeking asylum.” Non-English speakers are no longer permitted since it is assumed that they are imperfect and defective. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
European Union nationals in the capital will be referred to as European Londoners and their families, or EEA citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both the gendered phrases ladies and gentlemen and male or female have been dropped by City Hall, which warns that none accommodates non-binary persons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Employees are instructed to refer to “people affected by period poverty” because “not all women have periods” and some trans males and non-binary individuals do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bed blockers and children have also been removed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
