Ireland’s current neoliberal Taoiseach (Prime Minister), Leo Varadkar, has predicted that the demolition of Ukraine’s Kakhocka dam could result in more people flooding into Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Irish government has repeatedly boasted that it will never put a cap on the number of migrants and asylum seekers who come to their country, to the point where services and housing are now completely overwhelmed by arrivals from Ukraine, Africa, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such a migrant crisis has even resulted in a sudden and seismic shift in political sentiments among Irish people, with the country’s population going from being mainly unconcerned about immigration to becoming one of the world’s most pro-border control populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the tremendous pushback against open borders, Varadkar is now pushing that the island prepare for even more international arrivals, according to the Irish Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to prepare for the possibility that we\u2019ll see an increase in Ukrainians to other parts of Europe, including Ireland,\u201d the Prime Minister said, adding that Ukraine must also \u201cgets the humanitarian assistance that it needs\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also dismissed the idea of limiting the amount of migrants entering Ireland, calling such a system “unrealistic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
