After a lorry crashed on the M25 during the Just Stop Oil protests, a person was arrested for causing a public nuisance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vehicle struck and injured a police officer after a rolling roadblock was set up due to a person on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Essex Police, the incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, resulted in road closures between J26 and J27 clockwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police have not confirmed whether the accident was caused by activists who had been demonstrating in the area, and the cause of the accident is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We’re currently responding to an incident and subsequent lorry collision on the M25,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers were also on the scene at J30 of the M25, where one Just Stop Oil protester had climbed a gantry and one person had been detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police warned that the action would disrupt traffic in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Surrey Police confirmed that one protester was on a gantry near the M8 junction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Officers are proactively patrolling the rest of the M25, as they have been all week,” the force said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We’re ready to respond to any protest activity on #M25 with partner forces again today,” the Metropolitan Police said on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We understand that this disruption is extremely inconvenient for the public.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We will act as quickly as possible to remove any individuals intent on obstructing the road and re-establish traffic flow.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just Stop Oil staged 32 days of disruption from the end of September to the end of October, resulting in 677 arrests, 111 people charged, and officers working a total of 9,438 additional shifts, according to the Met.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
