Rishi Sunak and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron will meet for the first time in Egypt to discuss the migrant crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prime Minister stated ahead of Cop27 that his “key priority” at the UN climate change conference would be resolving the crisis of small boats crossing the Channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I’ve spent more time working on that in the last few days than I have on anything else,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Britain and France are “close” to allowing Border Force personnel on the beaches, with the Prime Minister insisting that he will continue to push for a deal with Emmanuel Macron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to get a grip, do a range of things to stop it from happening, return people who shouldn\u2019t be here in the first place.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Times, the Prime Minister will press Mr Macron to sign a deal to reduce border crossings while at the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Sunak is also said to have defended his decision to keep Suella Braverman as Home Secretary, claiming that “she’s completely focused.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Sunak, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary Dominic Raab, is planning to revive the British Bill of Rights as part of his government’s response to the small boat crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that the legislation, which grants UK courts supremacy over the European Court of Human Rights, will be brought back to Parliament “in the coming weeks.”<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
