\u201cRacial awareness\u201d training administered to civil servants operating out of Whitehall, the heart of the country\u2019s government operation, is reported to openly advocate for more immigration into Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training \u2014 lambasted as \u201cabsurd\u201d by one internal source \u2014 also gives examples of pub socials as possibly being discriminatory, and also states that a panel of all white men should not hold job interviews for black women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a report<\/a> in The Telegraph<\/em>, slides from the civil servant \u201cracial awareness\u201d training describes the statement \u201cthe country is full, we can\u2019t take any more immigrants\u201d as being \u201cas offensive as it is inaccurate\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Instead, the slides go on to discuss the \u201cbenefits of immigration\u201d \u2014 although polls show the public is opposed to it increasing and they have voted for a Conservative Party which has claimed it would cut the influx in the last four general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is straightforwardly political advocacy from the civil service,\u201d one source at the heart of the British government told The Telegraph. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Also included within the training material are references to two example scenarios from which lessons in \u201cracial awareness\u201d are meant to be derived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the first, two co-workers \u2014 named Amir and Nita \u2014 don\u2019t want to go to a pub social organised by their colleagues because they were brought up not to drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because work will be discussed at the event, the training alleges that the two who have been invited but have refused to attend may be being discriminated against.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDirect discrimination, indirect discrimination and harassment are all also potentially taking place in the scenario,\u201d the training claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In another example, a black woman is made uncomfortable when going for an open position because those interviewing her are all white men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe arrives to find that the entire interviewing panel is made up of middle-aged white men. The panel members find it difficult to build a rapport with Phumzile, who in turn feels uncomfortable and struggles to answer their questions,\u201d the training reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is an example of unconscious bias,\u201d the course material reportedly goes on to claim. \u201cThe lack of diversity\u2026 within the interview makes it difficult for them to relate to Phumzile.
