‘Sick and Tired’ Joe Biden ATTACKS UK’s Trickle-Down Economics as Truss ADMITS Her Tax Cuts Will Only Benefit the Rich

Liz Truss and Joe Biden clashed over economic policy ahead of a meeting at the United Nations summit in New York, as the US president slammed “trickle-down economics.”

On Tuesday, the prime minister admitted that her own tax-cutting plans will initially benefit the wealthy more than the rest of the country, but she insisted that economic growth would “benefit everybody” in the long run.

Ms Truss also appeared to imply that her government was willing to lift the cap on banker bonuses in the City of London, despite widespread opposition from MPs, unions, and economists.

It came as Mr Biden declared himself “sick and tired” of the right-wing economic theory that cutting taxes on businesses and the wealthy will result in benefits “trickle down” into the pockets of the poor.

No. 10 responded that it would be “ludicrous” to suggest Mr Biden’s criticism was directed at Ms Truss. “Any suggestion that it is a direct criticism of UK policy would be ludicrous,” her official spokesman said. No two countries’ economies are structured the same way, and each faces its own set of challenges.”

Ms Truss stated that she was willing to make unpopular moves in order to advance her career. “Not every measure will be popular,” she said, insisting that she was more concerned with “growing the size of the pie” than with ensuring that the benefits of growth are equitably distributed.
