Russia has lost nearly a third of its army strength since invading Ukraine, according to the Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom.
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin stated that detailed assessments show that President Vladimir Putin’s plan has spectacularly failed due to massive losses.
His military is now so weakened that Ukrainians are increasingly confident that they will reclaim all of their former borders within the next few months.
“They are absolutely clear they plan to restore the whole of their territory in terms of Ukraine.” Sir Tony said.
“They see a Russia that is struggling, a Russia we assess has lost over 30 per cent of its land combat effectiveness.
“What this actually means is that 50,000 Russian soldiers have died or been injured, nearly 1,700 Russian tanks have been destroyed, and nearly 4,000 Russian armoured fighting vehicles have been destroyed.”
By applying to join NATO, Finland and Norway have also thwarted Putin’s attempt to divide and weaken the Western alliance.
“Russia had the ambition to create fractures as a challenge to the world order,” Sir Tony said.
“Russia is failing in all of those ambitions.”
