Ursula Von Der Leyen has remained silent on Brexit Britain sending gas to aid the EU’s energy crisis.
According to Brexit Facts4EU.org, the UK played a crucial role in supplying the bloc with fossil fuels in the first quarter of the year.
“Gas exports to the EU more than doubled in Q1 2022, as interconnectors with Belgium and the Netherlands were used to export gas to mainland Europe,” according to the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.
“It’s called being a good friend and neighbour. How about a little reciprocity? Think NI Protocol, or illegal channel crossings, for instance,” tweeted Daniel Hodson, whose Twitter bio states he is Gresham Professor of Commerce.
The media outlet accuses the EU of failing to express gratitude to Britain for the energy boost.
