A training video warns civil servants that Britain is a “racist” country and that white officials should avoid clashes with ethnic minorities.
The reel is currently being shown to department employees in charge of levelling up, housing, and communities.
According to The Telegraph, it advises bureaucrats to be aware of their “white privilege” and to strive to be “allies.”
One Whitehall official, however, slammed it as “divisive nonsense,” adding that it is “designed to brainwash thousands of civil servants with an ideological agenda.”
According to the video, “becoming an ally primarily means acknowledging that we, ourselves, are part of a racist society, norm, culture, or system.”
‘For many of us who are white or white passing, meaning that we are often identified as white in public spaces, the colour of our skin, our race or ethnicity, has not had a negative impact on our lives. We call this “white privilege”.
‘You may face many other difficulties and challenges in life, but they are very unlikely to be related to your race.’
‘Because of this, adding your voice to anti-racism can help to amplify your message, support your colleagues, and give them time to heal and recover from a fight they’ve been fighting their entire lives, often for generations,’ says the author.
The video, which was posted on the department’s website in 2019, sparked outrage among some Whitehall employees.
‘The civil service is running a parallel policy to the government on diversity and inclusion in the name of social justice,’ a government source told The Telegraph.
‘The concept of white privilege has no place in government.
‘With an ideological agenda, this divisive nonsense is designed to brainwash thousands of civil servants.’
