Braverman RAGES at ‘Witch Hunt’ as Priti Patel Allies Turn On New Home Secretary

Suella Braverman was forced to defend herself following allegations that she ignored legal advice in order to combat overcrowding for Chanel migrants at Manston airfield in Kent.

Following harsh criticism of her re-appointment and the conditions at migrant centres, the Home Secretary raged at a “political witch hunt,” claiming it was “practically impossible” to house all of the migrants.

It comes as 4,000 migrants are housed at Manston, which has a capacity of around 1,600 people and only a processing centre where migrants can stay for 24 hours.

Former Home Secretary Priti Patel’s allies believe Ms Braverman is to blame, accusing the new Home Office of breaking the law.

One ally said: “Priti kept signing hotels off over summer no matter how unpalatable it was because it was the right thing to do to keep in line with statutory duties and make sure that people were not sleeping in awful conditions.”

A second ally said there are “saddened” to see the office “brought into such disrepute”.

Suella Braverman has created the “first refugee camp on British soil” by preventing asylum seekers from booking hotel rooms, according to senior Tories.
